Come gallop on with me.

About me

I live with my husband and two kids, five horses, two tenacious heeler dogs, and a bunch of honey bees on a small ranch in Northern New Mexico. I've ridden horses nearly all of my life and have owned and trained my own horses since I was a kid.

So here's the gist of it, I think ... I'm seeking to be awake in a world that is constantly trying to lull me to sleep. Sometimes I succeed. Sometimes I don't. An early Gnostic source, Excerpta de Theodoto, defines this as the knowledge of "who we were, what we have become; where we were, whereinto we have been thrown; whither we hasten, whence we are redeemed; what is birth and what rebirth."

I spend a lot of time thinking about that. And sometimes I just think about what's for dinner. Or what's on the news. Or the book I just read. Or how I'm going to get a messy house picked up, dinner in the oven, and help the kids with their homework after a full day at work myself.

My beloved husband, the light of my life on this earth, says of late that I am "One Formidable Woman", which I'm not sure is really true, but it certainly gives me something to aspire to. I come from a long line of story tellers, and for now I'll be blogging about this sometimes wild and wooly path. This started out as a blog devoted primarily to horses and horsemanship, but I'm branching out. It's a woman's perogative to change her mind, is it not?
